Frenchies are known to have a few problems with their spines and hips but not all with have these issues. I’m very cautious with Leo getting off the bed. He’s not yet able to jump on but can easily jump off. Instead of letting him do so I pick him off the bed and place him onto the ground. Today I read a forum about various types of hip, leg and back problems caused from jumping from high places and I knew I was preventing Leo pretty well from having any health issues. However, as I kept reading I realized I wasn’t doing it 100% right. One very important thing I didn’t pay attention to was how I was picking up Leo. I usually put my hands under his arms while his body freely hangs. This can cause problems in his spine so from now on I pick him up under his chest with one arm and the other holding his back end. Leo has a lot of needs, more than any other breed I know but that’s what makes him and other frenchies so special.
